About Period Delay

What is Period Delay Treatment? | How does it work?

Period Delay Treatment allows you to take control of your period – it is the process of intentionally delaying your period later than predicted in your cycle. Why delay your period? You may want to delay your period if it is due to occur at an inconvenient time in the month, perhaps at the same time as a big or important event that you don’t want to miss, whereby having your period would be too difficult and/or uncomfortable e.g., going on holiday. Period Delay Treatment comes in the form of tablets, which contain a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone. Your period is typically triggered by the falling levels of progesterone, so these tablets work by keeping your progesterone level high so that your period is postponed.

Is Period Delay treatment safe? | What are the side effects that I may experience?

Period Delay Treatment is safe to be used occasionally but should not be used as a regular method of delaying your period – there are contraceptive pills available that can delay it or stop it altogether (speak to your GP, a pharmacist, or sexual health clinic for more information). Potential side effects of the tablets may include nausea, headache, breast tenderness, and changes in mood and sex drive.

How does the service work? | How can I get the medication?

Our online service is simple – start by selecting your preferred treatment and then answer a series of questions regarding your lifestyle, medical history, and symptoms. Once you've placed your order, our clinical team will then assess the suitability of the chosen treatment/medication and if that’s all approved, we’ll send your medicine(s) out to you!

The Period Delay tablets must be taken 3 days before your period is due to start, and taking these tablets can delay your period for up to 14 days
