What is the Medicated Weight Loss Service? | How does it work? 

The Medicated Weight Loss service provided by iPharm is designed to help you lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way. Our team will assess your current health and lifestyle situation to ensure that our medicated weight loss program is the best option for you, if approved, you will be prescribed medical treatment which in this case is Mysimba. 

Mysimba is a weight-loss medication that works on parts of the brain that are involved in the control of food intake and energy expenditure. 

Why should I use this service? | How will it help me? | Is it suitable for me? 

Living a modern lifestyle whilst maintaining a healthy weight can be difficult, in fact, at present 23% of the UK population are classed as obese. Whilst our busy lives are almost certainly impacting our health, eating well, getting the right amount of exercise and maintaining a healthy weight are just a few ways to become healthier and reduce the risk of developing a number of health conditions such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. 

The UK has the second highest rate of obesity in Europe and The Department of Health has also recently warned that obesity has overtaken smoking as the leading causes of some cancers. Despite this, the provision of weight management treatments available on the NHS remains restrictive. 

How does this service work? | Can I do it all online? 

Our online service is simple – start by selecting your preferred treatment and then answer a series of questions regarding your lifestyle, medical history, and symptoms. Once you've placed your order, our clinical team will then assess the suitability of the chosen treatment/medication and if that’s all approved, we’ll send your medicine(s) out to you! 

Mysimba is typically approved for those: 

• with an initial BMI of 30 or greater or 
• those with a BMI between 27 and 30 if they have additional weight-related conditions such as controlled high blood pressure (hypertension), type 2 diabetes, or high levels of lipid (fat) in the blood. 

Please note: Patients ordering this for the first time will receive their first month's supply split across four weekly deliveries, following this the monthly dose of treatment will be delivered together.
